About Gannon Hat Company

Gannon Hat Company is operated by Michael Gannon. Each hat is handmade using vintage tools and techniques that have been in practice for over 100 years.

Gannon Hat Company vintage style hats are made from the finest materials available today, pure beaver fur felt, rabbit fur felt, genuine roan leather sweatbands, and rayon/cotton straight edge grosgrain ribbon.

Before he was a self taught hat maker, Michael Gannon was an avid vintage men’s hat collector. His first purchase over 15 years ago was a vintage Stetson and the quality and craftsmanship far surpassed any of his modern hats.

Gannon began to procure more vintage men’s hats and had a growing affinity for men’s hats from the early to mid 20th century. What began as a collection turned into a passion for the art and craft of hat making. Studying these classic men’s hats, he began to teach himself how to recreate his favorite vintage styles. Michael started Gannon Hat Company in 2014.

A Gannon Hat Co custom open crown hat in Granite 100X beaver. The soft thin felt shapes easily and creates an authentic vintage look and feel.

The thin felt open crown hat, I started working on that type of felt to duplicate some of my favorite vintage hats. I loved the way you could shape them easily and give the hat a dry more casual crease. If you notice hats in really old photos they often had that type of crease, I think it gives the hat a distinct look.
